The Process

How the scanner
builds the watchlist.

Market Filter
S&P 500 10-week EMA vs 20-week EMA. If the market isn't in bullish territory, no setups are returned. Cash is a position.

Fundamental Screen
ROE ≥10%, ROA ≥5%, Operating Margin ≥10%, positive revenue growth, D/E <150. At least 3 of 5 must pass.

Technical Setup
Price above rising 20-week MA, consolidation ≥6 weeks near the 52-week high, MACD above signal, NATR <8.

Breakout Criteria
Close above resistance, 5–20% breakout candle, upper wick <50% range, volume +30%, 10-week closing high.

Visual Confirmation
Every scanner alert is reviewed manually on TradingView weekly charts before it makes the watchlist. The machine filters. The eye confirms.

The Strategy

The Breakout Retest Method —
why I never chase the candle.

  • Wait for the retest. After a valid breakout, I wait for price to pull back to old resistance. The retest gives a lower-risk entry with defined stop loss.
  • Confirmation candle required. A rejection wick or bullish engulfing at the retest level confirms buying pressure. No confirmation — no trade.
  • Stop loss is mechanical. Placed below the low of the retest confirmation candle. If that level fails, the trade thesis is wrong. Exit immediately.
  • Target is measured. The consolidation zone height projected upward from the breakout level. Objective, repeatable, not guesswork.
  • 2:1 minimum or skip. Every trade is calculated before entry. Below 2:1 risk/reward — the setup gets passed. Discipline over FOMO.
  • 1% risk per trade maximum. Position sized using the account, entry price, and stop level. One losing trade never damages the account materially.

I'm a swing trader based in Dubai. I've traded the US market for 8 years using a rules-based breakout retest system I built and refined through live trading — not backtesting theory.
